Full Plate: San Diego chicken chain expanding locally

Less than two months after opening its first Colorado location, San Diego-based chicken chain The Crack Shack announced Tuesday that it plans to debut two more sites by late next year — one near Park Meadows mall and another in the RiNo neighborhood. And while concept executives have been pleased with the performance of their location inside the new Grange Hall food hall in Greenwood Village, the next stores will be full fast-casual-service locations, complete with local beer tap lists and outdoor patios.

The larger locations also will serve wider menus than the limited sandwiches, salads, fries and shakes that the restaurant slings at Grange Hall — including bone-in chicken, its Senor Croque sandwich with a fried egg and miso maple butter, its anti-salad power bowl and a sauce bar with six offerings. It also will offer some Colorado-specific, limited-time offerings and continue to contract locally for key ingredients, including Red Bird Farms chicken, City Bakery sandwich rolls and Little Man Ice Cream that is served in its milkshakes, Executive Chef Khine Moore said.
